Since 1994, TECF has awarded more than $7.5 million in grants to nonprofits that serve families, youth, and vulnerable populations. We focus on programs that provide direct human services, ensuring that support goes to those who need it most.
Guidelines
Organization must be a 501(c)3.
Organization must have an active board of directors.
Applications are restricted to one successful submission each year. If you're denied two applications in a year, we ask that you wait one year to reapply.
In general, grants are to be expensed within one year and without the expectation of further support.
Preference is given to programs that involve direct human services, such as family services, youth programs, emergency food and shelter, and health care.
Individual schools may not apply, but school district foundations may apply on behalf of their district.
Grants range from $500 to $5,000.
Restrictions
Grants will not be considered for:
Organizations that discriminate on the basis of handicap, race, color, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, or creed
Organizations outside communities served by The Employee Community Foundation, Optum Washington
Political candidates, organizations, or committees
Religious causes
Individuals
Capital campaigns
Individual school projects, sports teams, or organizations seeking event sponsorship
Requirements
Please limit your grant request to no more than four pages and include:
Verification of tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)3 of the IRS Code
List of current board members (include member affiliations and any other pertinent information)
List of key organizational staff, including titles and main functions
IRS Form 990 (most current)
A one-page summary of the organization’s ACTUAL income and expenses for the past two fiscal years
Organization’s current year operating budget
A detailed budget for the project for which funds are being sought
Deadlines
Grant deadlines each year are:
February 15
May 15
August 15
November 15
We will notify you by the 30th of the following month about your request status.
